The AFC North Board Ranks the Division by Scoring Margin, and That Puts the Defending Champion Steelers Third
The Steelers AFC North odds for 2026 put the defending division champion third of four, and the market rests on one number more than any other: points scored minus points allowed. Cleveland, Pittsburgh and Baltimore are all 4-2 and Cincinnati is 3-2, but the margins run Baltimore plus 24, Cincinnati plus 19, Pittsburgh plus nine and Cleveland minus 16, and the board prices the four clubs in exactly that order. On October 19, 2026 Polymarket had the Steelers at 15% to win the division, a point under Kalshi's 16%. Pittsburgh plays its home games at Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh, and the live board above has the current price.
Why the AFC North Board Puts the Steelers Third
The order is the read. Both venues had Baltimore at 46% on October 19, 2026, and Kalshi had Cincinnati at 31%, a point under Polymarket's 32%. That means the market treats Baltimore as the most likely champion and the Bengals as the main alternative, with the Steelers and the Browns behind, and it does so even though three of the four clubs share a 4-2 record and Cleveland leads the standings on a 2-0 division record.
What the price is saying is that the standings have not yet separated the three 4-2 clubs, so the board has used the next measure down. Pittsburgh's margin is thin because of one game: a 20-3 loss at New England on September 20. Its other results were a 20-13 win over Atlanta, a 30-27 win over Cincinnati, a 27-24 loss at Cleveland, a 34-22 win over Indianapolis on October 11 and a 26-19 overtime win at Tampa Bay on October 18. Pittsburgh has now scored 137 points to Cincinnati's 128, and Baltimore 156, the most in the division.
The head-to-head result is the part the board has set aside. The Steelers beat the Bengals at Acrisure Stadium on September 27, and a division title is decided by wins, with any tie at the top broken by the NFL's own procedure, which both venues' rules name; it is not decided by margin. The market treats that win as less informative than five other games' worth of scoring.
The Bengals and Browns on the AFC North Board
The two Ohio clubs bracket the Steelers on the board. Cincinnati's 3-2 includes a 20-6 win at Houston and a 31-24 win at Miami, and its two losses, at Pittsburgh and at home to Jacksonville, came by three and five points; the club has scored 128 points, third in the division, and it had the October 18 weekend off. Cleveland's 4-2 is the opposite shape: four wins by four points or fewer, including the 27-24 win over Pittsburgh on October 1 and a 13-10 win over Baltimore at Huntington Bank Field on October 18, and losses of 34-10 at Jacksonville and 17-12 at the Jets, for 106 points scored and 122 allowed. Both venues had the Browns at 9% on October 19, 2026, which means the board gives Cleveland's close wins, and its place atop the standings, even less weight than it gives Pittsburgh's margin.
The AFC North Defending Champion and Its Four Division Games
Pittsburgh won the division at 10-7 in 2025, ahead of Baltimore at 8-9, Cincinnati at 6-11 and Cleveland at 5-12, and it is 1-1 inside the division this season. Four division games remain: Cleveland at home on November 1, at Cincinnati on Sunday night, November 15, Baltimore at home on December 20 and at Baltimore in Week 18.
Baltimore has played one division game and lost it, 13-10 at Cleveland on October 18. Its other five begin with Cincinnati at home on October 25 and end with three in the last three weeks: Cleveland on December 27, at Cincinnati on New Year's Eve and Pittsburgh at home in Week 18. The Ravens' other loss was 24-17 at home to New Orleans, now 2-4. A division race in which the board's favorite has five of its games against the other three clubs still ahead is one the standings have barely begun to settle.
Aaron Rodgers threw for 253 yards and two touchdowns in the overtime win at Tampa Bay and is not on ESPN's injury report. Before the Cleveland game the Steelers face New Orleans, a 2-4 club, at Stade de France in Saint-Denis on October 25, and they take their bye in Week 9.
Through October 19, 2026, Kalshi had matched about 2.17 million contracts on the division board and Polymarket had drawn about $64.0K, including about 569,000 contracts and $10.0K on the Steelers' contract.
The Case Against the AFC North Read
The strongest case against the read is that scoring margin after six games is mostly one or two results, and the Steelers' margin is mostly one. Remove the New England game and Pittsburgh has outscored its other five opponents by 26 points, more than Cincinnati's full-season figure, while holding the head-to-head win over the Bengals. A board that ranks the division by margin is reading a statistic that a single blowout can swing, and it is discounting the one head-to-head result already on the books.
Baltimore's price has its own soft spot. The Ravens finished 8-9 and second in this division a year ago, lost at home to New Orleans and at Cleveland this season, and have five of their six division games still in front of them, three of them in the last three weeks. If the Steelers win at home on December 20, the Week 18 game in Baltimore could decide the title outright.
What Changes the Steelers AFC North Read
The read would be wrong if Pittsburgh is level with or ahead of Baltimore after the December 20 game at Acrisure Stadium, because the board's order rests on margin, and by then the standings and the head-to-head results would have replaced it. It would be confirmed if the Steelers lose at Cincinnati on November 15, which would split the season series with the Bengals and leave them ahead on the board's own measure.
• Cincinnati at Baltimore, October 25: a meeting of the two clubs priced above the Steelers, before Pittsburgh plays another division game.
• Cleveland at Pittsburgh, November 1: a chance to reverse the October 1 loss and move to 2-1 in the division.
• Pittsburgh at Cincinnati, November 15: the second meeting with the club priced directly above the Steelers.
• Baltimore at Pittsburgh, December 20, and Pittsburgh at Baltimore, Week 18: the two games that likely decide the title.
When the AFC North Market Resolves
The market resolves on the club the NFL declares AFC North champion for the 2026 regular season, which ends January 10, 2027. Kalshi's Pittsburgh contract pays Yes if Pittsburgh wins the Pro Football AFC North Division, with an expected expiration of January 11, 2027, a latest expiration of January 25, 2027 and the league as its settlement source. Polymarket resolves on the team declared division champion, applies the NFL's official tiebreak procedure if clubs tie atop the division, and resolves to Other if the season is canceled, postponed past 11:59 PM Eastern on January 17, 2027, or no champion is declared by then.
