The Union's MLS Cup Price Is Betting on the Summer Team, Not the Spring One
The Philadelphia Union MLS Cup odds for 2026 rest on which half of the season the market believes: the club won one of its first 15 league matches, then went 15 without a loss from July 22 to October 17, and the market prices the team of the summer, not the team of the spring. The Union play their home matches at Subaru Park in Chester, Pennsylvania, and they are the state's only MLS club, which makes this Pennsylvania's nearest title question of the fall. The live board above carries all 30 clubs from both exchanges.
What the Union MLS Cup Price Is Saying
On October 19, 2026, Polymarket had the Union at 8% to win MLS Cup 2026 and Kalshi had them at 9%. Three clubs were priced higher: Nashville SC at 19% on Polymarket, the Vancouver Whitecaps at 18% on Kalshi and Inter Miami CF at 16% on Kalshi. St. Louis City sat level at 8% on Kalshi. The price puts Philadelphia joint fourth on a 30-club board while the club stands sixth in its own conference, which means the market is reading form rather than the table.
What the price is saying is that a club's playoff chances depend more on how it plays in November than on how many points it banked in March. The Union's 46 points from 30 matches are a middling total, but 39 of them came in the last 15 matches, and the market treats that run as the more honest measure of a team that will play knockout soccer.
The board is thinner on Philadelphia than the price suggests. On Polymarket the Union's contract had drawn about $250K by October 19, 2026, 18th of the 30 clubs, against about $346K on Nashville and more than $3.2M on the Columbus Crew, who are 11th in the East; on Kalshi it had matched about 144,000 contracts, sixth of the 30. A modest book on a top-four price means the figure can move several points on one weekend's results.
The Union's Two Seasons in 2026
The season opened with a 1-0 loss at D.C. United on February 21 and went badly for three months. Philadelphia lost its first six league matches, won once, at CF Montreal on April 11, and closed the spring with a 6-4 loss at Inter Miami on May 24. Fifteen matches produced one win, four draws and ten losses.
The league then paused for the Union between May 24 and July 22, and the club that came back was a different one. A 3-1 home win over the New York Red Bulls on July 22 began a run of 12 wins and three draws, including a 3-2 win at New York City FC on August 16, a 5-0 home win over FC Cincinnati on September 9, a 5-0 win at San Diego FC on September 13 and a 3-1 win at the Chicago Fire on October 14. The only matches in the run that the Union failed to win were 2-2 draws with Inter Miami and with Charlotte FC on October 17, both at Subaru Park, and 1-1 at Austin FC.
That leaves the full-season line at 13 wins, 10 losses and seven draws, sixth in the East with 46 points. Nashville leads the conference with 67, Inter Miami has 55 and the New England Revolution 52, and the Union sit five points clear of Orlando City SC in seventh.
The Union's Path to MLS Cup 2026
MLS's playoffs take the top nine clubs in each conference. The top seven go straight into a best-of-three first round; the eighth and ninth clubs play a single wild-card match. After the first round, the conference semifinals, conference finals and MLS Cup are single matches, and the club with the better regular-season finish hosts every round except the second match of the first-round series. The playoffs begin on November 18, with MLS Cup scheduled for December 18.
The four remaining league matches decide where the Union start: New England at home on October 24, at Nashville on October 28, at Cincinnati on October 31, and Toronto FC at home on November 7, Decision Day. The 2-2 draw with Charlotte FC on October 17 left Charlotte one point ahead in fifth, and New England, six points ahead in third, visits next, so the match on October 24 moves the Union's place in the bracket as much as their points total.
The Case Against the Union MLS Cup Read
The strongest case against the read is that a full season is a better guide than a hot streak. A reader who holds this view points out that Philadelphia's 46 points are 21 behind Nashville's 67, that the Union lost ten of their first 15 matches, and that a club finishing sixth plays a first-round series against a higher seed and then has to win single matches that better-placed clubs host to reach the final.
The second argument is that the run came against a soft stretch. Several of the 15 matches were against clubs in the bottom half of either conference, including San Diego, Sporting Kansas City and Real Salt Lake, and the next two are New England and a trip to Nashville, the best side in the East by 12 points.
The counterpoint is that the Union also drew with Inter Miami and won at Chicago during the run, and that playoff soccer rewards the side in form in November more than the side that was in form in April.
What Changes the Union MLS Cup Read
The read is wrong if the Union lose the run's momentum before the playoffs begin, because the price rests almost entirely on the summer and autumn form rather than on the table.
• October 24: New England at Subaru Park, a direct rival for a higher seed, after the October 17 draw with Charlotte cost two points at home.
• October 28 at Nashville: the East's first-place club, and the clearest test of whether the Union belong among the top four on the board.
• November 7, Decision Day: the final seeding, which sets whether Philadelphia hosts the first and third matches of its first-round series or plays them away.
• November 18 onward: the first-round series; a best-of-three with no aggregate score and penalties after any drawn match leaves little room for one bad night.
• December 18, 2026: MLS Cup, the single match the contract settles on.
When the Union MLS Cup Market Resolves
Settlement comes with MLS Cup 2026, the one-match final scheduled for December 18, 2026. Kalshi's Philadelphia contract inside its MLS Cup Champion 2026 event pays Yes only if the Union are crowned 2026 champions, and Kalshi expects it to expire by December 25, 2026. Polymarket's MLS Cup Winner 2026 market resolves to the club that wins the 2026 MLS Cup, settles a club's contract No as soon as it becomes impossible for that club to win, and resolves to Other if the season is canceled, postponed after December 31, 2026 or no winner is declared by then, with official MLS information as its primary source.
